Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev secured his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has experienced a difficult year, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - resulted in him falling of the top ten and finally separating with long-term mentor Cervara.

Now working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has consistently improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial trophy following the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface after March of the previous year.

Victory also indicates he has won twenty-one titles at 21 different events.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my both daughters together, so to win a championship is really nice," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his previous six championship matches, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching approach and recurring reactions on court had prompted observers to question if his ability to play at the top level was finished.

However the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and perform positively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the initial set against the difficult opponent, securing four of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair exchanged breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial professional title, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

Moutet defended 4 early break points in a tight third set before the champion secured a break to that score to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he clinched the win with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to control a return after over two and a half hours.
